Practical Information for Guests

Most of the market stalls/booth are unable to accept payment by card and mobile phones. Credit or debit cards may be used for payment at Skjeltersjåen Café. The nearest ATM is at Sparebank 68° Nord, Bøstad, approx. 1.5 km from the museum. You can pay by card at the Museum Gift Shop, Museum Café, and at the Ticket Office in the museum itself.


On sale at the museum’s main entrance / the Glasshouse (credit/debit cards and cash) and at the entrance to the festival area (cash only). Choose between day tickets or festival pass. Tickets allow access both to the museum and the festival.


Parking is available at the museum’s main car park, beside the main road (E10). If you have any disabilities, please ask one of our staff for permission to drive down to the festival area. There are no parking in the festival area except for vehicles with special permission.

On foot

The Viking festival takes place at Borgpollen lake. It is approximately 1,4 km (20 minutes) to walk from the museum's main entrance to the festival area.

Food and Drink

Skjeltersjåen Café (festival area) serves warm and cold drinks, Viking dish of the day, hot dogs, pancakes; and other light snacks, ice cream, and cakes. The Museum Café (in the Glasshouse) serves normal fare all day, hot and cold drinks, dinner, light meals, etc. Allergy friendly food is also sold at both cafés.
