Bring your own smartphone and headphones
In the archaeological exhibition and in the cinema, we have an audio guide system. In the Viking chieftain's house and outdoors, there is no audio guide system. Due to COVID-19, we do not lend iPods, tablets or headsets.
You do not HAVE TO bring a smartphone, we also have live guides - but if you want to immerse yourself in Viking history, it is an advantage to bring a smartphone. In the archaeological exhibition and in the room with introductory videos you can use approx. 4 hours if you want to listen to everything. You can choose from 6 different languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Norwegian). It does not cost you anything extra to use your phone. The audio guide system is WiFi-driven and it means that you do not get any mobile costs (roaming and such).
In the Viking chieftain's house and outdoors (also by the original site) there is no audio guide system. Guides and artisans are happy to answer your questions and tell you about life in the Viking age.
