In the archaeological exhibition and in the cinema, we have an audio guide system. In the Viking chieftain's house and outdoors, there is no audio guide system. Due to COVID-19, we do not lend iPods, tablets or headsets.
Lofotr Vikingmuseum and all museums/units part of Museum Nord are strictly following the rules set by the authorities to prevent spreading of the Covid-19-virus.
In September and October, there will be many extra activities for children and adults at the Viking museum. Almost every Saturday you can join in on a different activity (however - some are conducted in the Norwegian language).

During the autumn holidays, we make arrangements for the children. Join in on new and exciting activities and cozy moments.

In the Lofoten islands, as well as in the Vesterålen islands and the Narvik region, there is much to be explored. If you are looking for insight into local life and history, the museums are the place to be. And, they are found all over the place.
There will be activities and experiences for the family during summer 2020 at Lofotr Vikingmuseum. The Viking Chieftain longhouse opens June 1. Starting June 15, there will be extra activities.
We are happy to announce that the museum will be open again, starting from June 1st, 2020.
Monday to Friday in week 10 there will be various extra activities for the children at Lofotr Vikingmuseum due to local winter holiday school break.
On Saturdays during winter we often have extra activities for the children that are visiting our museum. Small workshops, archaeology for children, guiding for children and other activities.
During the holiday season the museum is open evenings for those of you who wish to take part in a Viking feast. The museum is closed on daytime but exhibiton halls are available on the evenings for the Viking feast.
In addition to the open longhouse, the archaeological exhibition halls and the film, there is more going on on specific days.
Opening hours vary through the year. From May 1 - September 15 the museum is open every day.
True to tradition, during the Viking festival you may dive deeper into the Viking age and learn from skilled instructors.
