What happens in May 2020

Spring is a great time in Lofoten! In May the animals come out on pastures around the museum when weather permits, and the Viking ship comes on the water. It's bright outside and the midnight sun season returns just before the month changes to June. Opening hours are increasing and in May the museum is open every day between 10:00-17:00.

What's on at Lofotr Vikingmuseum in May?

Lofotr Vikingmuseum is closed for visitors due to covid-19.
The museum will be open again from June 1st, 2020.

Visit outside opening hours can be booked in advance (groups).

Archeological exhibition, film and the Chieftain's House are open.
Bring your smartphone to listen to the stories about the findings that are displayed.
Viking Feast every evening for individual guests (prebooked) at 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM.
The Museum Gift Shop is open during museum opening hours.

The farm animals are let out on the fields to graze as weather permits.
The Viking ship is put on the water approx. mid May.

Several craftsmen arriving and getting ready to make nice and useful equipment.

On the following days we have extra activities:
Saturday, May 2: Visit by local Viking reenactment group, "Lofoten Vikinglag". (CANCELLED)
Monday, May 25: Anniversary event - Lecture (in Norwegian)  (CANCELLED)
